Monty
Need to do a little stocking up and would appreciate hearing thoughts on what is the best quality and bang for the buck ammo and mags out there for the AK-47 pattern rifle. Mine is a SAR-1 and not a WASR so I don't expect there to be any magazine fit issues.
Looking at plain ol Romanian 30 round steel mags and Wolf Military Classic 124gr HP.
Thanks!

Re:Mags and Ammo for an AK-47 Pattern Rifle

I have not had ANY trouble with any REAL surplus AK Mags.
The ONLY ones that I have seen fail are those junk USA mags, I think they tried to make some.
You do have to watch and make sure you have the mags for your caliber (7.62 X 39 and 5.45 X 39 mags DO NOT interchange).
That is also why there is so much problem with the .223 AK mags, they were not made for ANY government, so there is no real standardization on them.
I won't use Wolf ammo. I much prefer the no name "surplus" stuff, even though it is not surplus and is new made for import into the US. Most of it is HP, some is SP, you really have to look to find real FMJ any more.
The stuff on strippers is worth it, if you can find it.
Any of the old steel core stuff might come handy if you can find it sitting around somewhere.
