Description: From Brigade Quartermaster Website:

"The ESS Interchangeable Component Eyeshield (ICE) delivers high performance for Range Work, Tactical Ops, Rescue, Wildland Firefighting, EMS/EMT as well as other hazardous activities and occupations where eye protection is a must. The ICE 2.4 is a lightweight, frameless eye protection system that offers a unique combination of high-impact resistance, unrestricted field of view, and interchangeable lenses. The thick 2.4mm polycarbonate lenses can stop a shotgun blast at 35 feet-all ICE 2.4 lenses pass the MIL-V-43511C .17 caliber ballistic impact test."

I've been wearing the system for 7 months now, and it's comfortable, works well, and is relatively inexpensive, even for Prescription Glass Wearers (with optional prescription lens carrier and nosepiece)

System Cost: $39.00

Pros: Light Weight, durable, good visiblity, inexpensive, excellent coverage. Has optional framless perscription lens carrier that actually works.
Cons: scratches fairly easily, but lenses only cost $15 each
Do you own product?:

I've been looking for perscription shooting glasses, and wound up with every-day glasses they work so well. We live in a windy, dusty, dirty town, and I was always clearing junk out of my eyes that made it past my glasses, and getting blinded by sunlight leaking around the sides of my glasses. These are made from ballistic polycarbonate, and are OSHA and MIL-Spec. With an inner perscription lens made from CR-39 polycarbonate, I now have 2 layers of ballistic plastic between my eyes and flying objects.

I use the Copper and Amber lenses the most (Copper lens is an order item from ESS right now, but BQ has promised to carry it.) The Amber lens makes an excellent Night Driving and poor light driving lens. The Copper lens is an all-around daylight outdoor lens. the dark grey lens is the one I use least, but if I were in a bright-glary situation, I'd be glad I had it.

The fastener on the provided case is weak, and needs reinforcement for military or rough use. It's a soft case, and offers NO protection to the lenses you carry inside, short of protecting them from being scratched.

Overall, for $40 each, it's a very good investment.
